Do I need to know how to ride first?

No prior horse riding experience is necessary. You will learn to ride as you learn to play polo. Of course it will be an asset if you have prior horse riding experience.

Do I need to be in good shape?

Being in decent shape helps, but it’s not necessary to learn to play polo. After all, it’s the horse who is running. However, the stronger your core, the safer you’ll be.

Is polo dangerous?

There is an element of danger when you are sitting on a 1000 pound animal. However, the polo ponies are used to handling inexperienced polo players.

What about the weather?

Outdoor polo is dependent on the weather. We won’t play when weather conditions are too wet.

Do guys and girls play together?

Yes they do. Polo is unique in that both men and women, adults and children, play together! This makes it a very family-friendly sport!

Are the lessons private or in group?

We attempt for every lesson to have at least 2 people. Since polo is a team sport it makes it more fun and dynamic to be in a small group learning the sport.

What if I have to cancel my lesson?

We would appreciate 24 hour notice if you need to cancel. We understand that things come up, however same day cancellation will be charged full price of the lesson.

How early do I need to arrive for my lesson?

The horses are all tacked up and ready to go when you get here. Just make sure you are ready to go by the scheduled lesson time. If it is your first lesson please arrive a few minutes early so you can fill out the release forms.

We have strategic partnerships with Santa Clara Polo Club in Wellington, Florida and Puesto Viejo Polo Club in Canuelas, Argentina. These provide opportunities for our players to continue to improve their game especially during Play Polo’s off season. You can contact us to get more information.
